In the bible the book of James 4:14 says that our life is a vapor and we are here in this world for a very short time. Recently I have been sensing urgency in my heart that has been demonstrated in my life. My husband has noticed this change in me too. This is a new season in my life and I finally have my priorities right for the first time.
The bible also exhorts us to number our days. Psalm 90:12 “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
Our lives can get so busy we don’t take time to be still and listen to Gods still small voice. We can neglect spending time with our friends and beloved family members. We need to make the most out of every day for no on one is promised tomorrow. If we can remember this and live like this we won’t neglect the relationships that are so important to us. We must keep our priorities in line with God’s will. If we always put Him first then everything else in our lives will become clear.
I am so thankful for the moments in time that I have with my husband, children and grandchildren. I love and cherish the times that are unplanned and spontaneous. Those times are like precious jewels that God gives us, just to be together to share and encourage one another.
This all reminds me of a song written by a man named James Croce the words to this song are timeless and we should take them to heart. James Croce was a songwriter who died with four others in a plane crash in 1973.
TIME IN A BOTTLE
Written by James Croce
If I could save time in a bottle,
The first thing that I’d like to do is to save every day
Till Eternity passes away just to spend them with you.
If I could make days last forever,
If words could make wishes come true,
I’d save every day like a treasure and then,
Again, I would spend them with you
But there never seems to be enough time,
To do the things you want to do,
Once you find them I’ve looked around enough to know
That you’re the one I want to go through time with
If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory
Of how they were answered by you
It would be great if we could save those moments of time in a bottle, but what we have is much greater. We have eternity because we are God’s children. What a wonderful promise and reassurance to keep in our hearts.
There is no such thing as an ordinary day when you are a child of God. He fills everyday with meaning and purpose. He is always showing us who He is in the simple things of life. He is in the sunrise and the sunset. He has created everything in creation for us to enjoy. Creation is just a glimpse of heaven.
I am so thankful that in Heaven, time won’t matter anymore. We will have all of eternity to spend worshipping our Lord and spending unending time with those who have gone on before us. I can’t wait!
