Be Still….

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God;I will be exalted among the nations,I will be exalted in the earth.

Isn’t it difficult to stay still? Even in the morning in my quiet time I can sometimes find this difficult.

In the hustle and the bustle of our busy lives our Lord commands us to be still. The morning time is the only time I can get this special time with my Lord before the cares of this world start to creep in. I have a plaque over my doorway in my kitchen that reads: “ Make time for quiet moments, as God whispers and the world is loud.” It is a reminder to me to slow down and be still.

The Lord has also used this verse in my life during times of change too. Change is something we all struggle with even when our Lord Jesus says to be still and know that I am God. Personally, I always feel that I should be keenly aware of His presence, when He shows me this verse. I know that He is going to do something that makes me aware of His awesome presence in my life. The Lord wants me to know He is in charge and in control. He also wants me to give him all the glory and exalt His holy name for all the wonderful things He does in my life.

When we were called to the Quad Cities to serve Him. My husband Bill was waiting to hear from companies that he had interviewed with. It was early in the morning and I was ironing Bill’s clothes for work and the Lord put this verse( Psalm 46:10 )into my mind. It was about a half hour later that we received two phone calls for job offers and one company even said that they would pay our expenses to move. This is something a few people told us that companies never do anymore.

Another time was when we took my son to Texas for a internship at a company, to work doing something He was passionate about; graphic design. When we walked into the apartment that he would be sharing with his roommates they had Psalm 46:10 on the wall in the kitchen. It gave me such peace just knowing that God was watching over my son. He has used this verse many more times in my life. I am so thankful for God’s little reminders of His presence.

I remember a song in 1990 that Bette Midler came out with, you may remember it? Some of the lyrics in this song say that God is watching us at a distance. These lyrics are untrue, in the bible it says that God desires to have fellowship with us and we are the apple of His eye. The Lord is personally involved in our lives and we can experience His presence daily. He is longing to have time with us. Don’t wait! Seek Him today He wants to show you His power in your life through the Holy Spirit. He is our protector, our provider and so much more! Seek Him while He may be found.
