Anyone that knows me, knows that I like a good story that can make a biblical principle come to life. Jesus loved stories too, he called them parables, His parables had to be spiritually discerned by the hearer and many walked away without understanding them. Even His disciples had to ask Him what he meant at times. The parable below describes salvation through Jesus Christ and is so precious to those who have experienced His love and mercy. Salvation is an assurance that we will be in heaven one day. Our salvation is a gift that cost Jesus the ultimate price as He suffered and died for our sins on the cross. When you understand what Jesus has done for you you will joyfully turn your life over to Him.
Matthew 13: 45-46 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.”
This story I found in my devotional the other day. There was once a young girl who had a strand of pearls which she treasured very much. One evening when her father came home, he asked her if she would give him her pearls. Although they were only imitation, she prized them highly. How could she part with them? As her father continued to hold out his hand, she quietly considered his request.
Finally she slowly went to her room for her pearls. As she returned, she dropped them into his hand. Then he reached his hand into his pocket, drawing out a box which he placed in her hand. As she opened it, she gazed on a beautiful strand of real pearls. What are you looking for today? Do you desire the things of the world? Anything this world has to offer is just an imitation and will never bring true satisfaction. Jesus is the only one that will bring true fulfillment into your life. No job, or possession or person will ever fill that God-shaped-void in your heart. Jesus is the Pearl of Great Price. Seek Him today and you will find Him. Let go of the things of this world, and all the trappings of it and you will have a new life through Jesus.
