The Lord loves to give His children good gifts. I was amazed when I heard this story of a special gift on a friend’s birthday. She didn’t expect and was it something she could never put a price tag on!

A few years ago a friend of mine shared this story with me. Her prayer partner ended their friendship abruptly. They had become very close friends and now that the friendship ended she realized that she had been going to her friend with all her prayer needs instead of going to God first. It was a difficult time for my friend and she struggled with feelings of rejection and hurt. She realized that she put too much importance on their friendship. My friend wasn’t focusing on the One who had always been there for her.

One year later, after returning home from work she turned on the answering machine. Her friend was on the answering machine with a tearful apology. What a blessing it was that she had called on her birthday. After she called her and they reconnected she asked her friend if she remembered it was her birthday, and she said she didn’t. God knew! He beautifully orchestrated the timing of that phone call and gave her a very special gift that year, a gift that money could never buy!

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning
