You Are Never to Old to Pursue Your Dreams!

nadadoraee.uu_.7 [640x480]_0Recently I saw a story that encouraged me and I wanted to share it with you. On the morning news there was a report about a 64 year old woman that successfully swam 110 miles from Cuba to Florida.

Diana Nyad said, ”I couldn’t wait to see the cameras because the first thing I wanted to say to the world was, ‘Never Give Up!” This was her fifth attempt at swimming from Cuba to Florida.Diana Nyad is an American author, journalist, motivational speaker and now holds a world record for this 53 hour grueling swim. She also said you are never too old to pursue your dreams. Lastly she commented that she couldn’t have done this without help from the team that followed her closely in a boat.

When I heard this story I was reminded of how great of cloud of witnesses we have to look to in the Bible. Moses was 80 years old before God used him to lead the children of Israel out of their slavery. Abraham was 100 years old Sarah was 90 years well beyond the childbearing years before the Lord fulfilled His promise of a son.

Abraham Lincoln the 16th President of the United States said,“The probability that we may fail in the struggle ought not to deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just”. He was 51 years old when he was elected. He lost eight elections, twice he failed in business and suffered a nervous breakdown, yet through all of this he never gave up!

If you have tried and failed you are in good company! Keep your focus and never give up on your dreams. Don’t be discouraged even if people around you question your pursuits. Just like Diana Nyad said, ”You’re never to old to pursue your dreams.”  Don’t forget to look to the great cloud of witnesses that have gone before us.

Hebrews 12:1  Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

Galatians 6:9  And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
