The other day while I was sitting in my car having lunch, something caught my eye. Along the parking lot there is a large group of trees bordering the asphalt. It was a cold winter day and the trees where barren. As I looked out I saw an eagle land on a tree branch very close to where I was parked. I have never been that close to an eagle before. It was so beautiful and majestic. I slowly got out of my car for a better look. I walked between the cars to get a closer look. As I continued to watch the eagle he saw me and took to flight. Observing his strength and power as he flew right above me stopped me in my tracks. I really just stood in awe of this magnificent bird. In that moment Isaiah 40:31 rang so true. But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
The Lord uses an eagle as a symbol of His power and strength. The dead of winter is the only time this majestic creature can be seen. When everything is cold, barren and lifeless, this marvelous creature soars and thrives above it all with majestic grace. He gives us hope. Jesus wants us to trust Him with all our hopes and dreams and through the empowering of the Holy Spirit we can have peace. What are you waiting for today? Do you have a heavy heart waiting for your prayers to be answered? If you rely on His strength you can mount up on wings like an eagle. Just look up and keep your eyes on Jesus, you too can soar high above the cares of this world.
